NOV 2011 - LONDON ICON IMAGERY USED BY BMW FOR LAUNCH OF LUXURY MINI

A selection of my London Icons images have been used by BMW for their launch of the new luxury Mini Goodwood car in Munich. These images could be viewed by guests at the launch through a giant viewing installation displaying a special large collection of iconic images of Britain including it's landmarks, buildings and images that were seen to reflect contemporary Britain - so designed to underpin the 'Britishness' of the new super mini model.

ONGOING - LONDON PROJECT: OLYMPIC COUNTDOWN

ONGOING - LONDON PROJECT: OLYMPIC COUNTDOWN

I am currently undertaking a personal project to photograph London in the run-up to the London Olympics in 2012.

My objective will be to 'capture the Capital' with both fresh workings of familiar scenes as well as developing different work showing London from new perspectives and in 'new light'.

To view the latest images, PLEASE VISIT the LONDON Galleries: LONDON and LONDON ARCHITECTURE [see GALLERY page]. It is my eventual objective to develop a complimentary body of work and to produce a book, provisionally entitled "London Color: explorations of colour in the Capital".

** New images will be added to these London galleries regularly, so please come back to see more.

The Brief was to photograph the newly completed social housing development at Stondonfield, Shalford (near Braintree, Essex).

The development consists of eight new eco social housing properties built via Braintree District Council.

The contemporary project's innnovation is in it's use of low cost state of the art heating usage and spacious 'liveable' dimensions to the properties. Part of the planning application included a condition that people with a local connection and a required housing need would initially have first choice to the houses and eco bungalow.

ITALY STOCK TRIP: EMILIA-ROMAGNA - SEPT 2011

ITALY STOCK TRIP: EMILIA-ROMAGNA - SEPT 2011

This trip to Italy had the objective of capturing some of the architectural highlights and classic Italian scenes from two of the most attractive historical cities in Emilia-Romagna: Bologna and Ferrara.

The classic little yellow Fiat 500 (pictured, right) was captured in the backstreets of Bologna, parked obligingly alongside an old ochre coloured wall. Perfect! It was amusing watching the reactions of passers by to this charismatic Italian design Icon.

NEW IMAGES from this shoot can be viewed in the ITALY GALLERY.

USA / CAPE COD, NANTUCKET AND MARTHA'S VINEYARD - JUNE/JULY 2011

USA / CAPE COD, NANTUCKET AND MARTHA'S VINEYARD - JUNE/JULY 2011

The Cape and the Islands provided many wonderful photographic opportunities.

We found Nantucket Island charming with it's beautifully preserved and restored historic colonial architecture, perfect white picket fences and manicured gardens. A somewhat unrealistic idyll this may be but the island is perfect for a short stay to experience a - albeit sanitised - glimpse of a long-gone maritime whaling past. A beautifully wrapped gem of an island 30 miles off shore Massachusetts.

Highlights from Martha's Vineyard included visits to Edgartown with it's quintessential New England coastal town charms, the quaint harbour and beautiful beach at Menemsha and a tour around the Victorian Gothic gingerbread cottages of Oak Bluffs.

On the Cape, Provincetown lived up to its colourful reputation and it was fun capturing some of the 'camp characters' in this "anything goes" town at the Cape's northernmost point. Nearby Truro with it's famous old row of coastal bungalow's called "Day's Cottages" proved another highlight from what must be one of the most interesting and beguiling parts of America's Eastern Seaboard.

New images from these locations can be viewed in the NORTH AMERICA GALLERY.

IMAGES FROM TUSCANY - VAL D'ORCIA - SEPT 2010

IMAGES FROM TUSCANY - VAL D'ORCIA - SEPT 2010

Our September visit to Tuscany has been a homage to the glorious Tuscan landscapes of the Val d' Orcia and the towns of Montepulciano and Volterra.

Trying to establish fresh visual perspectives in Tuscany is a difficult thing to do, especially for scenes such as that of the much-photographed copice of lone cypress trees in a field near San Quirico (see picture, right). Of the images taken of this familiar subject, I am most satisfied with this one which has the drama of the encroaching clouds on the congregation of trees. Earlier, in the town of San Quirico, I had picked-up a book by the photographer Paolo Naldi which offered the following wonderful metaphor for the scene - "The cypress trees stood out lonely and sombre like the halberdiers of an exiled sovereign"...Sandor Marai.

New images of our trip to Tuscany are available to VIEW NOW in the ITALY GALLERY.
